Father of 2 drowns after being caught in current trying to rescue seagull caught in fishing line — Brooklyn Park Community news

See real-life examples of rip currents This video from NOAA shows what rip currents look like from the beach, how to spot them, and what to do if you get caught in one. PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - A young father of two lost his life on Sunday after being caught in a current while trying to help a seagull tangled in his fishing line near his Florida home. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, William "Stone" Romberg, 31, was fishing near Carillon Beach when he saw a bird caught in his line. He swam out to free the bird, but both the bird and the hook became caught on his hand.  WHAT ARE KING TIDES? THE NATURAL PHENOMENON BEHIND SEASONAL COASTAL FLOODING As Romberg swam back to shore, the current carried him out further, and he drowned. Stone worked as a beach service manager at Carillon Beach's La Dolce Vita rentals, which has established a GoFundMe for the family. "Stone brought a positive attitude each day and made a lasting impression on the people around him." Stone is survived by his wife, Taylor, and their daughters, 3-year-old Hadley and 1-year-old Lainey. Find more updates on this story at FOXWeather.com. Crime and Public SafetyFloridaU.S.
